What are the things we need to look for in a radiograph?
- Basic anatomy (condyles)
- Pathology
- Eruption sequence (Stage of dentition)
- Congenitally missing teeth
- Supernumerary teeth
- Crowding/Spacing
- Ankylosed teeth
- Impacted teeth
- Primary teeth that aren’t resorbing
- Ectopically erupting teeth
- Canine eruption
When does the permanent max central incisor erupt?
7-8 years
When does the permanent max lateral incisor erupt?
8-9 years

11-12 years
When does the permanent max first premolar erupt?
10-11 years

What is really important to do in a pano radiograph for ortho?
Always count the teeth
(look for congenitally missing teeth)
What do you do with supernumerary teeth?
Extract as soon as you can without harming the adjacent developing teeth
What is the issue with supernumerary teeth?
- Disrupt normal eruption
- Disrupt alignment and spacing
Where are supernumerary teeth most commonly found?
anterior maxilla
