CBT is an effective treatment option for patients with panic disorder.
CBT is a type of talking therapy. In basic terms, it combines examining how we think about things (cognitive therapy) with examining how we do things (behaviours therapy).
CBT involves discussion about how thoughts, beliefs and attitudes can affect feelings and behaviour. It then teaches ways to cope with different problems. CBT can be used for a range of mental health disorders and helps to restructure how we think and act in different situations. During a session, patients work with a therapist to identify and challenge any pattern of negative thinking that may be leading to difficulties.
