A
CT first
also do US to pick up gallstones

Why may amylase actually be normal in approx 5% of patients?
A
pancreas is so dysfunctional it doesn’t make any amylase at all

Glasgow Imrie score

Blood tests in pancreatitis?
A
amylase, ALT, CRP

What resp complication may occur?
A
right pleural effusion, can lead to pneumonia is infected

Treatment??
A
fluids eg hartmans
no benefit of Abx
ERCP if gallstone,may need surgery

Commonest late complication?
A
haemorrhage and portal hypertension
