What is saphena varix?
dilatation of saphenous vein at junction with femoral vein
Signs of saphena varix?
disappears when lying down
patient tends to have varicose veins
What is a hydrocele?
collection of fluid in tunica vaginalis (space around testes)
Will a hydrocele transluminate?
yes
Way to differentiate between hernia and hydrocele?
pinch fingers above it - if they touch each other it is a hydrocele, if not it is a hernia
Who tend to get teratomas?
younger patients
What is raised in teratoma?
HCG
alpha deta protein
What type of testicular tumour responds well to chemo?
teratoma
What type of testicualr tumour responds well to radiotherapy?
seminoma
Which type of testicular tumour is v fast growing?
teratoma
What does a direct inguinal hernia protrude through?
Protrudes through Hesselback triangle
What does an indirect inguinal hernia protrude through?
inguinal ring
