Describe how morphine is used in a PCA
ready made solution of 50mg in 50ml of saline which is then drawn into a standard 60ml syringe and used to prime the delivery tubing

loading dose = 0 duration = stat conc = 1mg/ml bolus dose - 1mg/ml lockout - 5 mins background - zero
on opiate abd RR<10
give oxygen
on opiate and rr<8
oxygen stop opioid
on opiate low rr and drowsy and help is not immediately available give
dilute …g naloxone in 10ml water or saline and give a 1ml dose IV every minute
why not give the full syringe of naloxone at teh one time
compleetly reverse all opiates and cause the patient severe pain
why does naloxone doses need to be repeated
has a short duration of effect
