teleological ethics
morality based on the moral outcomes of the decision (ends justify the means)
astroturfing
fake grassroots support. Employee writes fake review to flatter the employer or insult a competitior. unethical and illegal
People must be treated with dignity and respect. Everyone has to follower the same rules. Would you accept the decision if you were on the receiving end? Lying is immoral because it prevents people from making an informed decision and destroys our integrity
Kantian theory
The most moral decision generates the greatest good for the greatest number of people; however decisions must not trample on people’s rights
Mill’s utilitariansim
Steps to expressing dissent
- say something you can all agree with
- moral path: explain why the action is wrong
- safe path: explain danger of engaging in unethical practice and refer to other organiatation
- better path: offer an ethical way to work towards supervisors goal with solution
