When does the heart develop?
In the 3rd week (22 days)
(bc 3 looks like a heart)
When is the heart functional?
At the start of the 4th week
(bc 4 looks like a QRS)
Is the heart intially one or two tube?
Two tubes but join when the embryo is folding (the embryo folds then the heart folds)
What is the cardiovascular system derived from?
Splanchich mesoderm (bc you have to have a good heart to be able to do a plank)
Angioblastic cord (Bc you have to have a heart in order to go blastic)
Neural crest cells (bc the heart looks like a crest)
How many sources does the heart tube recive blood from? What is the place that recives this blood called?
Place that recives: Sinus venosus
Number 3 sources
They are:
Umblical vein (makes sense bc venosus)
Vitelline vein (bc it is vital for life)
Common cardial vein (common bc three sources cardial bc heart)
What do veins join togther to form the common cardinal vein?
Anterior and posterior cardinal vein
Where does the Common cardinal vein come from?
The entire body (bc it is common)
Where does the vitalline vein come from?
From the GI tract (bc all vitamins are absorbed in the intestine)
How does amniotic fluid reach the heart when it is swallowed by the baby?
Through the vitalline vein (bc it gives it vitamin (nuterients))
What is the sequence of the heart tube structures before it bends?
From bottom up:
Sinus veinosus
Atrium
Ventricle proper
bulbus cordis (bc the cord of the bulb has to be up)
Truncus arteriosus (the trunk is last thing in a truck, usually after the lights)
add photo
Where does most of the right ventricle come from?
From bulbous cordis (bc most of anterior view is RV)
Where does most of the left ventricle come from?
ventricle proper
What does the truncs arteriosus divide into?
The aorta & pulmonary artery (bc another name for the artery is trunk and they are both big and transport things like the trunk)
Where does the Smooth part of the right atrium come from?
sinus venosus (bc sinuses are smooth and veno bc it is atrium)
Where does the rough part of the right atrium come from?
atrium proper
