Q

Is the heart intially one or two tube?

A

Q

What is the cardiovascular system derived from?

A

Splanchich mesoderm (bc you have to have a good heart to be able to do a plank)

Angioblastic cord (Bc you have to have a heart in order to go blastic)

Neural crest cells (bc the heart looks like a crest)

Q

How many sources does the heart tube recive blood from? What is the place that recives this blood called?

A

Place that recives: Sinus venosus

Number 3 sources

They are:
Umblical vein (makes sense bc venosus)
Vitelline vein (bc it is vital for life)
Common cardial vein (common bc three sources cardial bc heart)

Q

How does amniotic fluid reach the heart when it is swallowed by the baby?

Q

What is the sequence of the heart tube structures before it bends?

A

From bottom up:

Sinus veinosus

Atrium

Ventricle proper

bulbus cordis (bc the cord of the bulb has to be up)

Truncus arteriosus (the trunk is last thing in a truck, usually after the lights)

Q

What does the truncs arteriosus divide into?

A

The aorta & pulmonary artery (bc another name for the artery is trunk and they are both big and transport things like the trunk)

16
Q

Where does the rough part of the right atrium come from?

A

atrium proper

17
Q

Where does the left atrium come from?

A

pulmonary vein (bc it brings blood to the left atrium)

18
Q

What would be the most effected chamber in the heart if someone were to stab at its area?

A

RV (bc it covers most of the anterior aspect)

19
Q

Does the venous system (both atria) move back or infront of the heart?

A

back

20
Q

Does the artery system (both ventricles) move back or infront of the heart?

A

infront (makes sense bc the RV is the most prevalent in the anterior aspect)

21
Q

Where is the transverse sinus in this picture?

add photo

A

its at the curve (bc it is the transition)

22
Q

Why does the transverse sinus form?

A

Bc of the folding of the heart and apoptosis of mesoderm

23
Q

Why does the apex of the heart (left ventricle) move towards the left?

A

Bc the heart tube bends towards the right

24
Q

What is dextrocardia?

A

Bending of the heart tube towards the left

25
Q

What are the steps of the development of the sinus venosus?

A

Sinus venosus goes posteriorly (makes sense bc it is a sinus)

It maintains its paired condition

right Umblical vein will degenrate (bc poor) Left umblical vein will stay

The right common cardinal vein goes inside the atrium to form the right atrium

The left common cardinal vein will persist and form the coronary sinus (bc it is left so coronary)

26
Q

What is another name for the left and right common cardinal veins?

A

Left and right horn

27
Q

What is the structure that forms at the same time as the heart? What are the veins that get rerouted towards it?

A

Structure: Liver

Rerouted: Veins that connect to the sinus venosus
(umblical, vitalline) NOT the common cardinal

28
Q

What vein is formed from the vitalline vein?

A

Portal vein (bc when you take vitamins you feel like you’re in a whole different world)

29
Q

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT:What is the most the most common embryological defect in the fetal heart?

A

Ventricular septal defect

30
Q

What does the anterior right common cardinal vein form?

A

The superior vena cava
