Pacemaker/ICD Flashcards
What does the first position of a pacemaker code denote?
The chamber paced
What denotations are available for position 1
A-atrial , V- ventricular, D-both
What does the second position of a pacemaker code denote?
The chamber sensed
What denotations are available for position 2
A,V,D,O
Atrial, ventricular, dual or off
What does the third position of a pacemaker code denote?
The response to sensed events
What denotations are available for position 3 ?
I - Inhibit
T - Trigger
D - Dual, inhibit or trigger
O - No response
What does the fourth position of a pacemaker code denote?
Rate modulation based on perceived physiologic need
What would an AAI setting do?
Pace the atria, sense the atria and if it senses atrial contraction, it would inhibit pacing.
What would a VVI setting do?
Pace the ventricle, sense the ventricle and if ventricular contraction is sensed, inhibit pacing.
What would a VDD setting do?
Pace the ventricle, sense both atria and ventricles and can either inhibit a response, or deliver a spike depending on the underling native beats
What would a DDD mode do?
It would both pace and sense atria and ventricle and could either deliver an impulse or not depending on what is senses (beat versus no beat).
What is the AV delay analogous to in a native rhythm?
The PR interval
