What is a strength of the diagnosis of schizophrenia?

One strength of the diagnosis of schizophrenia is it’s reliability. A psychiatric diagnosis is said to be reliable when different clinicians can independently reach the same diagnosis (inter-rate reliability), or when the same clinician gives the same diagnosis on two different occasions (test-retest reliability).

What did Osorio et al (2019) report? And what does this mean?

Osorío et al. (2019) report both high inter rated reliability (+.97) and test-retest reliability (+.92) for the diagnosis of schizophrenia in 180 ppl, using the DSM-5. This means that we can be sure that diagnosis of schizophrenia is consistently applied.
