p3 - motion Flashcards

1
Q

measurements to find the acceleration

A

you could use a stopwatch and metre ruler, however for more accurate and precise results use light gates connected to a data logger

Q

finding acceleration

A

1) connect light gates to a data logger
2) set data logger to record the time it takes objects to pass each gate
3) take readings of the time for the object passing through each light gate and the time it took for it to reach from one light gate to the other
4) use the distance ( this would be the diameter of the object) and time to calculate speed
5) if you subtract the lower reading from the higher reading you can find the change in speed
6) then using acceleration formula you can find the acceleration
