Impromptu- speaking on the spot

Memorized- know whole speech by memory
Extemporaneous- deliver presentation from organized outline or speaking notes
Importance of Delivery
Delivery of your speech will be the means of which you communicate to your audience how credible you are. From the moment you head towards the front of the room, you are communicating with your audience
Aspects of Verbal Delivery
Articulation- clear formation of words
Pronunciation- how a word is said/stressed
Volume- how loud/soft you speak
Rate- speed of which you speak
Pauses- can be used to emphasize, collect thoughts, or transition to new point
Pitch- highness/lowness of voice
Vocal Variety- how you vary vocal qualities
Aspects of Nonverbal Delivery
Eye Contact- shows audience you are credible and that you care about how they receive your message
Facial Expressions- should compliment message
Body- including posture and gestures
Movement- not standing in just one place
