P2 Research Methods - Validity Flashcards
1
Q
What is ecological validity?
A
This refers to the extent to which the findings can be generalised beyond the present situation
2
Q
What is mundane realism?
A
This refers to how the experiment mirrors the real world.
A lack of mundane realism means something is not like everyday experience
3
Q
What is historical/temporal validity?
A
This refers to the extend to which the findings can be generalised to other time periods. If a study was conducted in the 1950’s it might not be appropriate to generalise the findings to people today as many other factors affect behaviour now
