P2 Research Methods - Aim, Hypothesis and Variables Flashcards
What is the aim of the study?
The aim of the study is what the study is trying to find out
What is the hypothesis?
A prediction about the variables in the study and therefore it must state an outcome of the research.
The hypothesis should show the independent and the dependent variable
What is the directional hypothesis?
Number of possible results that would support the hypothesis can only be 1.
For example, girls will draw more flowers than boys
What is a non directional hypothesis?
Number of possible results that would support the hypothesis can be 2 or more.
For example, there will be a difference between the number of flowers girls and boys draw
What is a null hypothesis?
When an IV has no impact on the DV or no relationship between the variables
What is operationalising?
The variables in your study have to be operationalised
