How is the magnitude of a vector written?
By putting the symbol for the vector in |-| e.g. |a|
If a = xi + yj + zk then what is the magnitude of a?
|a| = sqr(x^2 + y^2 + z^2)
How else can xi + yj + zk be written?
In vertical brackets where x is the top value, y is the middle value and z is the bottom value.

By subtracting the first position vector from the second, e.g. PQ→ = Q-P
