P & E Unit 2 Flashcards
Outline three purposes of sacramental marriage.
Exclusive – faithful to the other forsaking all others.
Fruitful – being open to children.
Life long – until death parts the couple.
Explain two ways non-religious views about marriage are different from Catholic views.
Same sex marriages – 1. Catholics disagree with same-sex marriage on the other hand many non-religious people believe same sex marriage is equally acceptable.
Sex before marriage – Catholics believe that sex is a God-given gift to strengthen the bonds of marriage whereas non-religious people are often in support of sex before marriage.
Explain two Catholic teachings on marriage.
Marriage is a life-long commitment where a couple are committing to each other until death.
