P & D 2 Flashcards
What does C&C stand for?
Control & Communication
Define what a converted supply is.
A converted supply is when the voltage and/or current is converted/ changed.
What are the main voltages used in the C&C switchboard?
115v AC
24v DC
What and where are the earth testing facilities for 24v DC?
There is a push-button with an integral lamp that is attached to the C&C switchboard.
What does TRU stand for?
Transformer Rectifier Unit
What does RTR stand for?
Rationalised Transformer Rectifier
Batteries fall into 2 categories. What are they?
•Primary
•Secondary
What are the characteristics of a primary battery?
•Not rechargeable.
•’Dry battery or cell’ even tho the electrolyte is a damp paste.
•Once discharged, they are thrown away.
•Normally small and used in torches, hearing aids, watches, and calculators.
What are the characteristics of secondary batteries?
•Rechargeable.
•’Wet batteries/ cells’ the electrolyte is usually a liquid or a gel.
•Require specialist recharging equipment.
•Variety of sizes.
What is the capacity of a battery measured in?
Amp-hour (Ah)
What is the voltage of a fully charged cell?
2.1v
What is the voltage of a discharged cell?
1.75v
