Q

What oxygen therapy level is considered mild-moderate hypoxaemia and what actions are required?

A

SpO2 85-91%

Titrate O2 flow to SpO2 of 92-96%

  • Initial dose of 2-6L/min via nasal cannulae.
  • Consider simple face mask 5-10L/min

Q

What oxygen therapy level is considered Severe Hypoxaemia? What are the actions required?

A

SpO2 <85%

  • Inital dose nonrebreather mask 10-15L/min
  • If inadequate Vt, Consider BVM ventilation with 100% O2
  • Once Pt Haemodynamically stable and has reliable O2 Reading. Titrate o@ flow to SpO2 of 92-96%.
  • If Pt deteriorates or SpO2 remains <85%.
    • BVM ventilation with 100% O2.
    • Consider SGA.

Q

What is the target Sp02 and actions are taken under the chronic hypoxaemia?

A
  • Titrate SpO2 of 88-92%

if no critical illness present

  • initial dose of 2-6L/min via nasal cannulae.
  • consider simple face mask 5-10L/min
  • If Pt deteriorates or SpO2 remains <85% Rx as per severe hypoxaemia.
