BSI
Body Substance Isolation, Scene Safety
Tank Check
Check Date, For Cracks and Leaks, Obstructions, Check Pressure, check O-ring on regulator, Turn on and confirm pressure
Nasal Canula
Attach to tank, turn on with flow 1-6 LPM, put on patient Behind ears, under chin and since)
Non-Rebreather
Attach to tank, Turn on with flow of 10-15, fill reservoir by putting finger over valve, put on patient
Bag Valve Mask (BVM)
Choose proper size and assemble, connect to tank, turn on flow 15 LPM, open airway manually, establish and maintain seal, 12-20 breaths per minute (every 3-5 seconds), watch for chest rise and fall, allow for adequate exhillation
Orapharyngeal Airway (OPA)
Select correct size (measure from corner of mouth to earlobe), insert (tip towards roof of mouth, 180* turn as inserted keeping tounge out of the way), remove by pulling straight out. DO NOT USE WITH GAG REFLEX, DO NOT INSERT PAST TEETH LEVEL
Nasopharyngeal Airway (NPA)
Select correct size (Tip of nose to earlobe, about the size of patients little finger), Lubricate with H2O soluble lube, insert (Keep head in neutral position, beveled edge toward septum), if it does not go in re-lube and attempt the other side. DO NOT USE WHEN HEAD OR FACE TRAUMA PRESENT.
