RADAR sends signal to RDC
RDC to ACE
ACE tells antennae how fast to spin
RDC sends signal to REP
REP creates 1W pulse and sends to transmitter
Transmitter amplifies to 50kw
Sends pulse back to REP
Goes through duplexer and transmitted out
Hits target and bounces back
Received in REP
REP sends processed signal to RDC
WOW interface switch prevents inadvertent radiation under following conditions:
Engines on
Flaps between fully up and take off
Parking brake off
Scanner pitch roll and tilt limitations
+/- 15 degrees pitch
+/- 25 degrees roll
Manual tilt of +10 degs to -20 degs
Manual tilt of +10 to -15 in periscope
+/- 18.75 degrees roll in periscope
RDC
Radar data center - communication hub between radar and MCDS
ACE
Provides AC power to antenna and transmitter
Scanner
Transmits i band for radar , D band for iffi
Background mode
Uses automatic computer settings for sea clutter supression operator cannot adjust
Threshold mode
Threshold mode is where the operator sets the controls to adjust the picture manually
Nav mode
Long range detection of contacts
Weather shows up well
Trade off is slow scan rate operators must be patient when trying to ISAR from nav mode
