• The document may lack authenticity – Parts of the document might be missing because of age, and we might not even be to verify who actually wrote the document.
• The document may lack credibility – we may not be able to verify why somebody wrote the document, and what their motive was.

However, this is only true of documents in the past, with contemporary documents such as blogs it is often easier to find who wrote documents, and if you can’t verify it, you just ignore it!
