outline Flashcards
why do we have seasons
The Earth goes around the sun every year, and the earth is on an axis, which the axis is tilted at an angle of 23.5 degrees. This affects the amount of sunlight we get per hemisphere, making temperatures hot and cold.
What is meant by earths axis
Earths axis is at 23.5 degree angle and it is a imaginary line that earth is tilted on, this line joins the north and south pole.
Explain f northern and southern hemispheres at different seasons
Earth’s tilted axis causes the seasons. Throughout the year, different parts of Earth receive the Sun’s most direct rays. So, when the North Pole tilts toward the Sun, it’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere. And when the South Pole tilts toward the Sun, it’s winter in the Northern Hemisphere.
difference between rev and rot
“Rotation is a movement of an object around a fixed point or axis, and in the case of the Earth, its axis shoots right through the north pole to the south pole. The axis is tilted at 23.4º.
revolution is a movement of an object around another object, just like the earth and sun
