His father was a musician and painter – he taught him how to play piano.
Graduated college in 1890.
He wanted to go to Toulouse Conservatory for music but his father wanted him to study law at Toulouse University which he did. Eventually, in 1893 he enrolled to do music.
Studied in Toulouse and then later under Vincent d’Indy at Schola Cantorum.
He took organ lessons.
