what is the ottawa charter for health promotion
an approach to health developed by the world health organization that aims to reduce inequalities in health. it reflects the social model of health and provides five action areas that can be used as a basis for improving health status, all of which are centred around three strategies for health promotion which are enabling, mediating and advocacy

refers to making it easier for ppl to make healthy choices by providing a physical and social environment that promotes health

strengthening community actions
focuses on building links between individuals and the community to achieve a common goal
developing personal skills
relates to educating and equipping ppl with health-related knowledge and skills that allow them to make informed decisions about their health
reorienting health services
relates to shifting the focus from health professionals to prevention rather than focusing on diagnosing + treating illness
