Others Flashcards
The maximum reverse-bias potential that can be applied before entering the Zener region is called the
peak inverse voltage (referred to simply as the PIV rating) or the peak reverse voltage (denoted by PRV rating).
Silicon Diode
PIV rating: 1000 V • Temperature range: 200 °C
• Threshold voltage: 0.7 V
Germanium Diode
PIV rating: 400 V • Temperature range: 100 °C
• Threshold voltage: 0.3 V
Effects of Temperature
Forward Region
The threshold voltage will decrease by an amount of 2.5 mV for Germanium diodes and 2.0 mV for Silicon diodes for every degree Celsius increase in temperature.
Effects of Temperature
Reverse Region
The reverse saturation current will double for every 10 °C increase in temperature. The Zener breakdown voltage will increase as the temperature increases
