  • Due to mutations in one of the T3 beta receptor leading to low cellular binding of T3
  • Decreased tissue sensitivity to thyroid hormone caused by the germline mutation
  • Mutant receptor has lower binding affinity
  • TSH level remains unsuppressed despite elevated thyroid hormone
  • Mutation of THRB Gene located in CHROMOSOME 3
