involvement of the superficial saphenous venous system
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
Type of VTE:
involvement varies but can extend from the foot to the iliofemoral region

Type of VTE:
Complication of deep venous thrombosis occurring when part of a blood clot dislodges and is carried to the pulmonary artery, where it occludes the vessel and obstructs blood flow to the lungs
After first 3-5 days, what is the rate of infant’s weight gain?
110 to 200g/week
or
20 to 28g/day
What is the association between colostrum and meconium?
Colostrum has a natural laxative effect that promotes early passage of meconium, excretion of bilirubin
Early on-set jaundice
usually related to increased bilirubin production (i.e. increase hemoglobin destruction, from blood group incompatibility)
- begins at 2-5 days? (breast milk associated jaundice)
Late on-set jaundice, breast milk jaundice
often related to delayed elimination of bilirubin
- begins at 5-10 days? (breast milk jaundice)
Late-preterm infants (34 0/7 to 36 6/7)
- at risk of feeding difficulties due to low energy stores
- tend to be sleepy with minimal wakeful periods
- weak suck (can lead to inadequate milk intake)
