the analysis, interpretation, and evaluation of literary words; it does not mean “finding fault with”
Literary Criticism
an article dealing with the contents, literary worth, etc. of a book especially a recently published book
Book Review
a prose form that deals with the processes governing thought and conducts. It also deals with the theory of investigation of the principles or laws that regulate the universe and underlie all knowledge and reality
Philosophy
a written account of trips, journeys, tours etc. taken by the writer
Travel
an imitation of another author’s work, where ridicule is the main objective
Parody
a brief narrative concerning a particular individual or incident
Anecdote
a short description of its qualities and traits of a person
Character Sketch
a short tale that illustrates principle, usually by setting forth the application of the principles to something familiar to the hearer or reader
Parable
a small book of topic of current interests
Pamphlet
writing in praise of a dead person, event or thing
Eulogy
the general work for a discourse delivered to an audience, whether prepared or impromptu
Speech
implies a formal, carefully prepared speech and usually attribute importance to the speaker or the speech
Address
suggest an eloquent, rhetorical sometimes merely bombastic speech, especially one delivered on some special occassion
Oration
a carefully prepared speech intended to inform or instruct the audience
Lecture
suggests informality and is applied either to an impromptu speech or to an address or lecture which the speaker deliberately uses a simple conversation approach
