Providing Explosives to Commit an Offence

S272, Crimes Act 1961
- Everyone who
- Knowingly has in possession or makes any explosive substance, or dangerous engine, instrument, or thing
- With intent to use or enable another person to use the substance etc
- To commit an offence

A
The court must prove that the defendant knew what the substance was.

Providing explosives - Meaning
A
It is suggested that the nature of the device (engine, instrument or thing) is intended to explode or cause fire or emission of noxious things.

Possession / Providing explosive
A
The defendant must be in possession of the explosive etc, and know that it is intended to be used in an offence, but need not know who will be using it or the precise nature of the offence.

Interfering with fire alarms

S88, Fire Service Act 1975
- Unlawfully interfered with any fire alarm
- Knowingly covered up any hydrant making its position difficult to ascertain
- Knowingly obliterated or removed any sign marking a hydrant
- With intent to deceive, impersonated a member of the fire service
- Fine only, non arrest.

- Resisted, deceived or knowingly obstructed any person in the execution of their duty conferred or imposed in this act.
- Unlawfully interfered with any equipment at or in the vicinity of a fire, suspected fire or other emergency
- Knowingly gave or caused to be given any false alarm of fire.
