Other non Tech Flashcards
What is situational awareness?
“The perception of elements in the environment within a volume of space of time, the comprehension of their meaning and the projection of their status in the near future”
How do we achieve SA?
1) perception
- of information
2) comprehension
- of that information to develop a current mental model
3) projection
- of current mental model forward to predict how it will change with time
What is SET?
- three elements is fundamental in the process of attaining good SA
SET
Systems
environment
time
What is important about SA?
We can not expect to maintain adequate SA passively. We must actively seek and share all relevant information.
Knowledge is power!
What factors can cause poor SA
Poor prioritisation
Distraction
Expectation
Under arousal
Over arousal
PEDUO
What is the DO elements
Direction. Implement. Motivate
DIM
Non techs?
- situational awareness
- leadership/ workload management
- decision making
- co-operation
What are the benefits of Crew Co Operation
- synergy where crew performance exceeds that of two individuals
- enhanced ability to detect and correct individual errors
- a safe operation as a result of efficient utilisation of flight management tools
Barriers to crew co operation
