Enkephalins & Dynorphin
Naturally occurring peptide that has potent painkilling effects and is released by neurons in the central nervous system.

What is activation of pain receptors called?
Transduction
Conducting pain receptors along the pathways. (Tells them where to go)

Perception of pain
Awareness of the characteristics of pain. (Everyone’s is different)
Modulation
Inhibition and modification of pain. An example would be RICE, or taking pain meds.
Pain threshold
The minimum intensity you can take in regards to pain.
Pain tolerance
The maximum amount of pain you can tolerate
