What is the difference between the social model of disability and the medical model of disability?

Answer 1

Social model of disability focuses on the way society is organised, removing barriers and giving disabled people the opportunity to be independent and equal in society.

Medical model of disability focuses on the fact that people are disabled by their impairments and therefore medical intervention is needed, looks at what is wrong with the person and creates low expectations
