what is it called when the skeleton has no bones crossed?
standard anatomical position
the plane that divides the body into left and right sides
sagittal

there are two types of bones
compact and spongy
bones that are long, thin, have a shaft and articular surfaces at either end
long bones
small bones, usually cube shaped
short bones
bones that are thin, flat surfaces, no marrow cavity, but do have spongy bone between two layers of cortical bone
flat bones
bones with complex shapes, notched or with ridges
irregular bones
bones that form inside a muscle tendon
sesamoid bones
what type of joint:
- very little movement
- bones linked via fibrous connective tissue or cartilage.
non-synovial joints
What type of joint:
- mobile joints
- enclosed by a joint capsule and contain fluid
synovial joints
