Osmosis Flashcards
What is Osmosis?
Its a dilute solution that contains a high concentration of water molecules, while a concentrated solution obtains a low concentration of water molecules
What happens when the concentration of water is the same on both sides of the membrane? (Osmosis)
The moment of water molecules will be the same movement
What cells contain dilute solutions? (Osmosis, Living cells)
Ions, sugars and amino acids
What is the cell membrane in Osmosis? (Living cells)
Partially permable
Where will water move in osmosis? (Living cells)
In and out of the cells
What Will isolated plant cells do in osmosis? (Plant cells)
When placed in a dilute solution or water it will take in the substance
What is the cell wall in plant cells? (Osmosis)
It’s fully permeable to all molecules and supports the cell to stop it bursting when it gains water
