10
Q
OSI Physical Layer
A
- Responsible for the physical connections of the devices in the network
- Implemented through the use of devices such as hubs, repeaters, modems, and physical cabling
11
Q
OSI Data Link Layer
A
- Responsible for the error free delivery of data to the recieving device or node
- Implemented through the ue of switches, bridges and network interfaces (wired and wireless network cards)
12
Q
OSI Network Layer
A
- Responsible for the transmission of data between hosts in different networks as well as routing of data packets
- implemented through the use of routers and some switches (layer 3 switches)
13
Q
OSI Transport Layer
A
- Provides services to the application layer and recieves services from the network layer
- Responsible for the reliable delivery of data
- Segements and reassemebles data in the correct order for it to be setn to the reciving device
- may handle the reliable delivery of data and any retries of data that are lost or corrupted
- called the heart of OSI
14
Q
OSI Session Layer
A
- Layer is responsible for connection establishment, session maintenance, and authentication
*
15
Q
OSI Presentation Layer
A
- Layer is responsible for translating data from the application layer into the format required to transmit the data over the work
- Responsible for encrypting the data for security if encryption is used
