What hearing test is done in newborns?
Otoacoustic emissions test (test checks part of the inner ear’s response to sound, soft sounds played through buds and microphone pikcks up any sound response)
If the otoacoustic emisions test is abnormal wat test is conducted?
Auditory Brainstem response test (safe painless,
- Tells us how the inner ear, called the cochlea, and the brain pathways for hearing are working
- Wires involved, tests waves
What hearing test is done after 3 years and at school entry?
Pure tone audiometry
Bolus fluid resus in kids
10 - 20 ml per kg in 20mins
