Supracondylar #

A
  • Risk of injuring brachial artery if displaced (divides into radial and ulnar artery AFTER the elbow
  • Risk of median nerve injury –> if displaced # causes impingement
  • Ulnar nerve is NOT usually affected
  • 7% will get radial nerve injury (wrist drop, can’t hitch hike)
  • posterior fat pad visible on XR is suspicious for this injury as fat pad normally sits on olecranon fossa and is not normally visible unless elevated by a haemoarthrosis

Proximal ulnar # + radial head dislocation
–> requires reduction

On XR-
Displaced anterior humeral line (#) and Radiocapitellar line (radial head dislocation)
