What are the four orthopaedic & musculoskeletal tests

A

Valgus Ligamentous Test - Medially co-lateral ligament
Vargus Ligamentous Test - Lateral co-lateral ligament
Maudesley Test - Lateral epicondyle- Extensor digitorum
Cozen Test - Lateral epicondyle - Extensor carpi radials brevis
Tinel Sign - Cubital tunnel - medial epicondyle and elecranon.

How do you perform Valgus Ligamentous Test

A

Have the patient lying supine
Place lateral hand under elbow joint. Palpating the elbow line.
Flex elbow to 20-30.
push medially with lateral hand cupping elbow joint.
Positive test is pain or hypermobility in medial co lateral ligament

How do you perform the Vargus Ligamentous Test

A

Similar set up to Valgus but instead place yourself between the patients elbow and table.
With medially hand grab the posterior elbow along the elbow joint.
Flex the elbow 20-30
Then lateral push the elbow joint.
Positive is hypermobility or pain in lateral co lateral ligament

How to perform the Maudesly test

A

have the patient supine
have dorsal hand showing.
put pressure on rude finger and ask patient to extended finger.
Positive test is pain in the externsor digitorum

How to peform the Conzen

A

same position as maudesly test
have the patient make a fist and try to radial deviate and extend the fist into your resisting hand. positive test is pain in the extenser carpi radialis

How to perform Tinels test

A

have the patient siting at the side of the table.
Flex the wrist and the elbow to 90
tap the cubital tunnel
if the patient has pain or tingling sensation its a positive test.
