Caxton (1476)
Printing press - allowed less wealthy to have access to scriptures, developing England’s literacy and standsrdising the language.
Johnson (1755)
Largest dictionary which provided a standard reference point to fix variation in English spelling.
Webster (late 1700s)
American spelling reforms - more phonetif spellings (or endings, er endings, ize endings, simple consonants)

Hate when the apostrophe is used incorrectly and strive to correct it.
Early Modern English Spellings
i and y used interchangeably, final silent e on words to mark long vowels, v and u used differently, j was the extended form of i, -cion rather than -tion
