A
- Pregnancy
- Endocrine: thyroid, diabetes, acromegaly
- Rheum: RA, OA
- Otrtho: structural abnormalities
- Workplace factors
- Drugs: aromatase inhibitors

Clinical manifestations of carpal tunnel syndrome
A
- Pain/parasthesias in distribution of median nerve
- Worse @ night
- Later: weakness of thumb abduction + opposition, atrophy of thenar eminence
- Can be provoked by Phalen (reverse prayer) and Tinel tests (tapping)

Ix for carpal tunnel syndrome
A
- Mostly clinical diagnoses
- To rule out others: U/S, nerve conduction studies, rheum screen, diabetes bloods

Rx of carpal tunnel syndrome
A
- Conservative: rest, night splints, hand therapy
- Pharmacological: NSAIDS, steroid injection
- Surgical: carpal tunnel release- open or endoscopic
