What is angio-oedema?
oedema of the oral and facial soft tissues due to an INCREASE in fluid exudate from the capillaries but with no lymphatic drainage
what is orofacial granulomatosis?
clinical presentation of oedema in the oral and facial soft tissues by blockage of lymphatic drainage due to an immune reaction
What is the difference between angio-oedema vs OFG?
- angio-oedema swelling comes up quickly & settles quickly (24-48 hours)
- OFG swelling comes up quickly & settles very slowly (over weeks or months)
During the exclusion diet trial, what foods should be avoided?
All foods containing =
- benzoic acid
- scorbic acid
- cinnamon products
- chocolate
What intralesional steroid injection is injected into areas of swelling in OFG patients?
Triamcinoclone
What systemic treatment is used to help immune modulation in OFG patients?
- Pulsed azithromycin for 3 months - 3 days in every week
- prednisolone for short term issues
