what were the causes of the Korean war

- Truman doctrine 1947 (fear of communism)
- north Korea were helped by the USSR and Kim il sung takes power of north Korea in 1948
- south Korea was supported by the US and Syngman Rhee was elected in 1948
- on June 25th 1950 the north Koreans crossed the 38 th parallel and with the support of the USSR (equipment) in 4 months they had took almost all of Korea
- Truman sent us warships, advisers to the south. He also appealed to the UN to stop the invasion who sent troops led by MacArthur
- 1945 Korea was divided along the 38th parallel, Churchill described it as an iron curtain has descended over Europe
