What did Russia want to create between Germany and Russia and why?
Sought to create a bugger zone between them, so that they could prevent another German invasion.
What was the US reaction to the buffer zone?
US was wary, due to the influence of communism over more of Eastern Europe.
Who was more superior at the time of 1945 - 1947 and why?
America because they had the Atomic bomb. Was dropped on Hiroshima. Some speculate that it was dropped to show America’s might to the world, in particular the USSR.
What did America want to do after the war?
Wanted a strong free-market orientated Europe to export their industrial goods.
How did the USSR buffer zone affect USA?
America was worried about the establishment of more communist governments in Europe (Bulgaria, Romania and Poland) because they feared it was simply to expand communism.
- This would be a major problem because it would severely limit America’s plan of a Free-market Europe.
How would America respond to the expansion of communism in Europe?
