What is the purpose of the NWSTG?
The NWSTG’s the Nation’s hub for the collection and distribution of weather data products. It provides national and global real-time exchange services. Automated communications resources are used to collect and distribute a wide variety of environmental data such as observations, analysis, and forecasts.

What’s the difference between a contract specialist and a contracting officer?
A contracting officer (CO) has signatory authority. The individuals delegated authority by the head of the agency to enter into and administer contracts are called contracting officers. Only these designated individuals are authorized to obligate funds and commit the Government contractually. The are responsible and accountable for the contracts. Contract specialist can write contracts and administer contracts and help define technical elements and evaluation criteria that will be used to review the contract before it’s awarded. But, only CO’s can obligate the government.
Will the planned “Tech Re-architecture” effort use EVM?
Yes. The only one listed for NWSTG. The NWSTG Technology Re- architecture project will implement a totally new system architecture to support significant increases in data volumes from programs ranging from satellite to climate and implement redundant backup capabilities (hot/hot disaster recovery model).

How do you create a parent child relationship between investments in eCPIC?
In eCPIC the consolidated business case (CBC) functionality can be used to create parent/child relationships between investments. eCPIC supports multiple levels of CBC relationships children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Life cycle costs, FTE, and the Funding sources table will be zeroed out and become read-only for this investment. These tables will also automatically roll up data from child investments.
