What is redshift?
The displacement of spectral lines towards longer wavelengths.
What evidence is there that the universe is expanding?
Redshift & The Doppler Effect.
What does redshift show?
That galaxies are moving away from a point.
What is the Doppler Effect?
The increase/decrease in frequency of a wave as the source moves away from or closer to the listener.
If a car is moving away from you, would the wavelengths be longer in front or behind the car?
Behind the car.
What is the Big Band theory?
About 14 billion years ago, an extremely large explosion happened from a single point and everything started expanding.
What is the Steady State theory?
That the universe has always existed as it does now.
What is CMBR?
Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation that is coming from all parts of the universe.
