Where did Calvinist Determinism come from?
A
John Calvin got his inspiration for predestinative determinism (which was quite the opposite of the views of his church contemporaries and the early church) from Augustine, who was likely influenced by Gnosticism.
Augustine was a Manichean Gnostic for almost a decade prior to converting to Catholicism.
