Q

What does the digestive system do?

A

Fuels the body with food

17
Q

What does the excretory system do?

A

Waste elimination

18
Q

What does endocrine system do?

A

Produces hormones that regulate sleep/wake cycles, metabolism, immune system, stress response, water elimination, calcium in blood, glucose in blood

19
Q

What does the lymphatic system do?

A
  • Returns nutrient fluid, “lymph,” that has leaked from blood back to the circulatory system
  • Lymph nodes filter this fluid and trap bacteria.
  • Lymph circulates by osmotic pressure and nearby muscle contractions
20
Q

What does the thymus do?

A

Makes lymphocytes

21
Q

What does the spleen do?

A

Cleans blood and removes damaged red blood cells

22
Q

What does the nervous system do?

A

Controls and coordinates the internal and external functions/movements and responses of the body

23
Q

Types of Neurons

A
  1. Sensory: from sense organs to spinal cord and brain
  2. Motor: from brain and spinal cord to muscles and glands
  3. Interneurons: connect sensory and motor neurons
