reactants change to products- same atoms recombined to new elements- energy released or gained
Why is the law of conservation of matter important in chemical reactions?
no new matter can be created or destroyed- only rearranged

energy can’t be created or destroyed- reactants contain energy

concentration increases, reaction rate increases
how does temperature affect reaction rate
increases kinetic energy, molecule speed, which increases reaction speed
how does addition of a catalyst affect reaction rate

what is activation energy
the energy required to start a reaction, more stable elements require higher activation energy
How do enzymes speed up reactions in cells?
lower activation energy by creating/breading bonds and they hold/position the molecules so that they can react more easily
