Organising Flashcards
Steps of Organsing
You are Dubey (just like Pehlad bhaiya). Dubey take four steps forward and state that the wedding will take place on the sun.
1. Identification and Division of Work - Dubey gives identity card to the guests in line in their wedding outfit. On his left is a man working in a cubicle, and he uses a sword to divide the man in half.
2. Departmentalisation - Dubey takes everyone to space on his back. When they land, their feet start burning so he takes them to a giant department store (like costco) to buy special shoes.
3. Assignment of Duties - Dubey then makes everyone sit on school desks on top of a tree. He gives them a maths assignement to complete and gives one student the duty to monitor the class.
4. Establishing Reporting Relationship - Dubey closes the door of the room that the tree was inside and stands on a flying stabaliser and all relations from the wedding come in a miniature ship and give report cards to Dubey.
Importance of Organising
You are Dubey. Dubey opens his VIP bag and takes out mouth organ out of it and and plays it.
1. Benefits of Specialisation - As he plays the mouth organ speical flowers appear in front of him.
2. Clarity in Working Relationships - He then says, to pay for the special flowers, he will make only relationships work. So relations in relationship come for work and he gives clear cream to them to look presentable.
3. Maximum Utilisation of Resources - He does maximum utilisation and their work bars on top of their heads all get tired, and he only gives sauces as payment.
4. Adaptation to Change - They get very angry, so they switch off the lights. They take adapter and hit Dubey. Adaptor is then changed by Dubey, and lights come back.
5. Effective Administration - Everyone gets very scared, so he effectively adminsters everyone.
6. Development of Personnel - There is still commotion, so he calls Dev D and all the personnel get excited and surround him.
7. Growth and Expansion - He grows and expands and shows everyone, everyone gets excited, and sangeet goes happily ever after.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Functional Structure
You are Dubey. Dubey constructs a giant structure where all the functions can take place at once.
Advantages
1. Occupational Specialisation - The first function is being held in the end of the hallway. There are seats which are specially for particular occupations. All doctors on one side, lawyers on side etc.
2. Promotes Control and Co-ordination - He gives a big chord to everyone and asks them to tie it across their seats. He then hands everyone a remote control, and shows that the chord can move using the remote control in his hands.
3. Efficieny Increases - He gives everyone a platter of fresh salmon sashimi fish. People keep on asking for more and more.
4. Reduces Duplication - He goes to the miniature stage and starts playing a dafli. A bunch cats follows the sound and comes to the stage. He starts throwing the duplicate cats at the crowd (reducing duplication).
5. Training - A train comes through the right side wall and crashes into the stage killing Dubey.
6. Attention - Everyone starts attending that particular function and pay attention to Dubey’s body. Everyone attends Dubey’s funeral function.
Disadvantages
1. Less Emphasis on Objectives - Nassir-ud-din, on hearing about this does phasi saying that he no longer has any objective in life. He stands on a dart board on the objective.
2. Co-Ordination Problems - He looks up and ties the chord around his neck, but suddenly there are problems in the chord and it starts tearing.
3. Conflict of Interests - An onlooker looks at a traffic cone on the ground and flicks it with his fingers, and instead of landing on Nassir-ud-din’s face, it lands on a place wear ants are resting. The ants scurry away.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Divisional Structure
You are Dubey. Dubey makes a structure that is divided in half in between, with steel etc. popping out of the first floor and roof.
Advantages
1. Product Specialisation - He shows everyone special products, made for the specially abled like wheelchairs, scooters etc.
2. Fixation of Responsibility - A fixed-racewala breaks his chain pony (responsibility) runs and comes and starts eating his products.
3. Promotes Flexibility and Quick Decision Making - He brings a flex to capture the pony and throws it over the pony. He tells his staff to quickly make dishes to throw at the pony.
4. Facilitates Expansion and Growth - One worker gets very angry and expands and grows to a massive size, telling Dubey that he doesn’t want to work anymore. Dubey puts him on phasi since he expands and grows.
Disadvantages
1. Conflicts - All other workers stand outside and start revolting. The flick traffic cones at Dubey.
2. Increase in Costs - They start to demand significantly more pay (increase in costs) and Dubey thinks that he cannot maintain this increase in costs.
3. Ignoring of Organisational Interests - He plays a mouth organ and ants near their home ignore their rest and come to Dubey to help in work with interest.
Difference Between Functional and Divisional Structure
There are two giant shadi functions going on on the left and right. They are divided by a giant gold fence. Imagine yourself as the various people entering the two functions.
1. Formation - Early morning, when the sun is rising, everyone has to fill forms to get into the functions. To the function on the right side, people have to bring a product with them of any kind when signing the form and there is a very big line. Functional - formation based on functions. Divisional - formation based on product llines.
2. Specialisation - For the function on the left, you have to wear special shoes made out of silver and diamonds. On the right side, you have to put a special product like a powder on your shoes to enter. Functional - emphasis functional specialisation. Divisional - emphasis on divisional specialisation.
3. Responsibility - Both sides have red trees where they have fixed their very own race-wala pony (responsibility). On the left side, it is very difficult to fix responsibility and it starts dancing and drinking with everyone. On the right side, a bunch of products have been placed on the pony so it is very easy to fix at one spot. Functional - difficult fo fix on department. Divisional - easy to fix responsibility for perfomance.
4. Managerial Development - Dev-D comes to the door to meet manager. When he goes to the function on the left, they let him meet the manager at the top. But in the right one, they don’t, so he takes an auto gives the gaurd money (autonomy) and is able to go inside. Functional - managerial development difficult as each functional manager has to report to top management. Divisional - easy, due to autonomy and chance to perform multiple functions helps in managerial development
5. Cost - On the function on the right they are selling duplicates, at higher cost than normal products also. The people at the function on the left show knives and make all the duplicates run away, saving alot of money. Functional - functions not duplicated, hence lower cost. Divisional - Duplication of resources/functins, hence costly
6. Co-Ordination - Vicks has sponsored both the functions. The left function uses a chord and tries tying vicks boxes of multiple sizes together, they can’t do so easily. The function on the right ties only one sized vicks boxes togehter using chord, so they can do so very easily. Functional - Difficult for a multi-product company. Divisional - Easy, because all functions related to particular product integrated in one department.
Features and Limitations of Formal Organisation
You are Dubey. Dubey is wearing formals and has a mouth organ in his mouth. He thinks about future.
Features
1. Emphasis on Work - While thinking about his future, he puts alot of emphasis on work thinking he will grow and become rich in future. He further then puts alot of emphasis on work in the present, asking all his staff to work.
2. Specifies Relationship - He sees alice, a blue-eyed blonde. She hits him accidently, and he starts dreaming of a specific relationship with her.

Advantages of Formal Organisation
You are Dubey. Dubey sees an advert on van of marriage of a very old lady with a man wearing formals and a top hat with a mouth organ in his hand.

2. Unity of Command - The host aunty gets very angry and gives command to everyone to catch the pony.
3. No Confusion - Everyone is chasing the pony, and they see Dubey who is just lost in his thoughts about Alice and has no confusion even though there is chaos everywhere.
4. Stability - Aunty slaps Dubey. Dubey catches the pony and takes him to the stable. At the stable, he tells all the horses about the story of him and Alice. A white stallion comes out, and tells Dubey to sit on him.
5. Accomplishment of Goals - The stallion takes Dubey to Alice’s mansion, and Dubey steps down and proposes to Alice again. She agrees, they both get on the horse and run away. His goal has been accomplished.
