What is an enzyme?
A biological catalyst to speed up chemical reactions.
Where is bile produced and stored?
Produced In the liver and stored in the gall bladder.
What does bile do to the stomach acid and why?
Neutralises the hydrochloric acid because its an alkaline.
What is the purpose of the digestive system?
To break down larger molecules into smaller, soluble molecules to be absorbed into the bloodstream.
How do enzymes speed up chemical reactions?
By lowering the activation energy.
How does bile increase the digestion of lipids?
Emulsifies fat into smaller droplets to increase the surface area.
